In my last post I told you about the wonderful vacation my family took to Prince Edward Island this summer. Because it took us three days to drive there, and another three days to drive back, we were gone for two full weeks. That meant our family’s routine was completely thrown off. And that’s secretly why I’m a little relieved my vacation is over.
After experiencing the fun of throwing schedules out the window, going to the beach on a whim and without a watch, and eating lunch at 2 pm instead of noon, I was ready to get back to a routine. And I think that is the point of a vacation. I have to admit, though, I’m struggling to find balance in my daily routine now that I’m back from our trip. My problem is that once my kids go to bed I kind of revel in the quiet. I think “Oh, since it’s quiet, I’ll just work on this post for a few minutes.”
And the next thing I know, it’s 1 am. Then I decide not to set my alarm as early as I planned. But then when I don’t get up early, I feel like I’m behind schedule even before the days really begins. And so the cycle goes…
