Welcome to Mommy Maleta! I know many of you will be looking to link up to the Thoughtful Spot Blog Hop today. Some transitions occurred just this week, however, and I’m not going to be participating in the link up any longer. I will really miss featuring all your creative posts on Monday mornings, but am also excited to feature new content on Mondays including resources to teach your kids Spanish!
Spanish Resources
I have wanted to regularly post Spanish resources since the beginning of my blog launch because I love Spanish and am a fluent Spanish speaker. My husband and I lived and worked in Spain for three years as missionaries with Ambassadors Football (that’s the soccer kind of football). Then a few years ago our entire family lived in Nicaragua for several months for the adoption of our son.
So it is about time I unleash some of my passion for Spanish, global missions, and international adoption here at Mommy Maleta. I’ll be starting out with Spanish, but I am going to ask you a few questions at the end of this post get your opinions on future content ideas.
One of the ways I like to teach Spanish at home is by playing Spanish songs I find on youtube videos. I’m going to show you how to teach your kids Spanish with five free videos. This is such an awesome resource because you don’t need to know any Spanish to use it, and there is no prep or planning. Just press play!
Teach Your Kids Spanish With Five Free Videos
- A Limpiar (Clean Up Song): I have tried to enforce something I call “10 Minute Tidy Up” at home this year. It just means that I set the timer for 10 minutes, and we all do a quick pick up downstairs before heading up to bed. I play and replay this song while we clean up.
- Días De La Semana (Days Of The Week): This one is bizarre but I love it! A Spanish teacher made up this song to teach his students the days of the week. My kids and I sang this over and over, motions and all, and now they have the days of the week down pat.
- More Días De La Semana (More Days Of The Week): We didn’t even need a reinforcer after the last video, but this video is excellent! The native accents are so nice to listen to, and the production quality is terrific. This is a great follow up video to the previous one, because kids can hear the days of the week in the context of a dialogue.
- Los Meses Del Año (Months of The Year): It’s a good idea to stick with themes during language learning so now that your kids know the days of the week, they’re ready for the months of the year! This is produced by the same company as the previous video so, again, it is high quality.
- Las Estaciones (The Seasons): We’re ready to make one more progression. Your kids know the days of the week, the months of the year, and now they can master the seasons with Miguel and Sabo.
I hope you and your children enjoy these videos! They have certainly been a fun way to incorporate Spanish in our house. Now I’d like to ask you a few questions?

Thanks so much for starting your Spanish for kiddos on Mondays. I don’t speak any Spanish but I am working to teach it to my three year old. This will be an excellent resource.
