My kids and I picked strawberries today! They are the main ingredient for this easy recipe for fresas con leche. Fresas con leche means strawberries with milk. When blended together they make a refreshing drink that’s just right for summer. We enjoyed ours on the patio.
This was my middle daughter’s favorite recipe in Peru. She often went home with her friend Mafita after tennis practice and drank a glass as part of their lonche (basically a light dinner). I already mentioned it’s easy to make. So after observing how to do it in Peru, my daughter is the one who frequently whips up a batch for our family to enjoy.
We started by using freshly picked strawberries. Store bought or frozen berries also work just fine. In fact, the only ingredients you need are strawberries, milk, and sugar. We also added a few ice cubes to make it nice and cold.
We washed the berries, sliced them, and then added all the ingredients to a blender. Our Ninja works well. Then we blitzed everything together for a couple minutes, and divided our drink into glasses to serve.

This drink is not as thick as a traditional smoothie. But if you’d like it thicker, add more berries and decrease the amount of milk.
I hope you enjoy both this easy recipe for fresas con leche and your summer! If you have any questions about this recipe please let me know in the comments below!
