Welcome back to the Thoughtful Spot Blog Hop! I want to give you the link to my latest Compassion Sunday post so you can read about Jessi and the 42 children she corresponds with! I also want to tell you about a good movie I saw this week. Last week I mentioned that I saw The Dropbox, a movie about a Korean pastor who set up a special box where abandoned babies could be placed in desperate situations.
Then last night my husband and I watched The Good Lie. It is about The Lost Boys who were orphaned in 1983 due to civil war in Sudan. They walked 785 miles in unbelievable circumstances seeking refuge. The true-to-life brothers and sister lived in a refugee camp in Kenya for a decade before a humanitarian program brought them to the U.S.
Aside from telling the story of how these children endured their journey to refugee camps, I think the film did an outstanding job of portraying the culture shock the brothers and sister faced when they were thrust into their new lives in the U.S., meeting people like Carrie Davis, played by Reese Witherspoon.
The movie is available on DVD. I was on a waiting list for a month or so at my local library to borrow it. So you might be able to find it locally as well. It is also available on Amazon Prime.
