I know this might scare off some of the boys who are reading this right now but: Raise your hand if you like playing with paper dolls! My hand is up. Is yours? I enjoyed this Mini Paris Cut Outs Craft so much because it reminded me of playing paper dolls when I was little.
Now don’t worry boys, you will not be accused of playing with dolls if you do this craft. These are cut outs of an actual city! If you remember, in the first post of this France series we learned that Paris is the capital city of France. Paris is home to many famous sites. Three of them are featured in this craft. They are the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe and a famous cathedral called Notre Dame. Click on the links to find out some fun facts about these famous structures so you will understand more about the city you are assembling.
Credit for this wonderfully designed mini city goes to artist and designer Joel Henriques. I am so excited that I came across his website made by joel. He offers some amazing free printables ranging from coloring sheets to printable toys. You can find the templates for the Paris cut outs among them. There is actually a large version of Paris cut outs as well as the mini version.
The instructions for this craft are so incredibly simple that I could fill the rest of this post with little smiley face icons. But I’ll restrain myself and keep it to one. 😀
Materials
- Plain white computer paper or a little thicker paper if you prefer
- Scissors
- Thin markers or colored pencils
Instructions
- Print out a mini Paris template or a large Paris template.
- Color the pictures or leave them in black and white. They look good either way.
- Cut out the pieces.
- Fold the paper as directed on the template.
- Have fun playing in Paris!
Please leave me a comment to tell me all about your mini trip to fabulous Paris!
And just a tip on storage. On Joel’s site he mentions that an empty mint tin is a great place to store your little city after you are done playing. We still have about 8 curiously strong mints left in our tin at home, so my daughters are storing their cities in sandwich baggies until the tin is empty. I had them label their baggies with the three famous sites I mentioned above so they could get some practice writing a few words in French.
Well, au revoir my little readers! Check back with me next week for our final week in France. I will be sharing a delicious, kid-friendly French recipe!
